VOICES Annual Programs

 Extreme Makeover: UTSA Edition

Last year over 250 UTSA students participated in a range of projects to help beautify the UTSA Main Campus. This year we hope to increase the amount of students that participate! The date for the 2014 Extreme Makeover: UTSA Edition will be Friday, September 26, 2014; sign up will start in early September. Come to our VOICES general meeting or come by the VOICES office to sign up and get more information!!

Hunger Banquet

The Hunger Banquet is an experiential dinner, where participants eat a meal based on the class/status that they draw on their way in the door. Participants have the opportunity to learn about global hunger issues, and participate in group discussion about the causes and realities of hunger. Email volunteer@utsa.edu for more information! The banquet will be November 19, 2014.

Alternative Breaks

An alternative break program places teams of college students in communities to engage in community service and experiential learning during their spring breaks. UTSA VOICES has sponsored Alternative Spring Break trips since 2004. Alternative Breaks empowers and challenges students to understand their relationship within the global community through education, reflection, and direct service while on weeklong service trips over a break. Past Spring Break trips included Atlanta, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Big Bend, and Piedras Negras, Mexico. As of 2014 we are now offering Alternative Winter Break trips to take place in January.

Where will we go next?
