VOICES Annual Programs
Extreme Makeover: UTSA Edition
UTSA's largest campus beautification project. We collaborate with facilities, grounds and housekeeping to pinpoint needs on our campus and create projects for this event. Projects have ranged anywhere from mulching, trash pick-up, light painting, landscaping, etc. On average we have anywhere from 200-300 volunteers. Last year over 250 UTSA students participated in a range of projects to help beautify the UTSA Main Campus. This year we hope to increase the amount of students that participate!

The Hunger Banquet is an experiential dinner, where participants eat a meal based on the class/status that they draw on their way in the door. Participants have the opportunity to learn about global hunger issues, and participate in group discussion about the causes and realities of hunger. Email [email protected] for more information! The banquet will be Wednesday, November 16th from 6 to 8 pm.
An alternative break program places teams of college students in communities to engage in community service and experiential learning during their spring breaks. UTSA VOICES has sponsored Alternative Spring Break trips since 2004. Alternative Breaks empowers and challenges students to understand their relationship within the global community through education, reflection, and direct service while on weeklong service trips over a break. Past Spring Break trips included Atlanta, Biloxi, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, St. Louis, Big Bend, and Piedras Negras, Mexico.
